The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in cooperation with the MGB Employees Association Region XIII Chapter and the MGB-RXIII Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative, held the Children’s Party on January 14, 2023 at the MGB Regional Office No. XIII Training Center in Surigao City. Attended by the children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews of MGB Regional Office No. XIII employees, the event started as an annual Children’s Christmas Party which has been a long-standing tradition of the Regional Bureau before the pandemic.  It has continued to be a venue where the children could build friendships, strengthen ties and experience camaraderie. In support of the National Unified Information, Education and Communication Program of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau and the Philippine minerals industry, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau conducted the Public Relations and Crisis Management Training on December 19 to 21, 2022 at the Makati Palace Hotel in Makati City. Information Officers, Community Affairs Officers and key personnel of the Social Development Section from the MGB Central and Regional Offices, together with select participants from mining companies, took part in the said training which was organized by the Mineral Economics, Information and Publication Division of MGB Central Office. The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in partnership with the Caraga Mine Environmental Management Council, Inc., conducted the Mine Rehabilitation Fund Committee (MRFC) and Multi-Partite Monitoring Team (MMT) Capacity Building Seminar-Workshop on December 1 to 2, 2022 at Parkway Hotel in Surigao City. Aimed at capacitating the MRFC and the MMT members for the conduct of monitoring on the implementation of the approved Annual Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program, the two-day seminar-workshop equipped the participants with the necessary knowledge that will guide them through the different aspects of their monitoring tasks.  The roles and areas of concern of every sector member that will be integrated into the revised MRFC/MMT Manual of Operations were discussed as well.  At the start of the activity, messages were delivered by MGB Caraga Regional Director, Engr. In keeping with the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, the Gender and Development Focal Point System of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII conducted the Gender Sensitivity Training on December 6, 2022 at the MGB Regional Office No. XIII Training Center in Surigao City. With the theme “UNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippines”, this year’s campaign underscores the powerful impact of combining individual efforts towards a collaborative and united thrust towards a VAW-free Philippines. It is an affirmation of the unceasing anti-VAW efforts in line with the Philippines’ 20th year of participation in the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
