The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in cooperation with the Community Relations, Education & Development Officers (CREDO) Caraga, Inc., held the 4th Quarterly Press Conference on December 15, 2017 at the Philippine Gateway Hotel in Surigao City. The press conference aimed to intensify public awareness of the current state of the Caraga minerals industry.  It also aimed to foster the participation of and dialogue between the media and the mining stakeholders in achieving the common goals of responsible mining, ecological sustainability and social development. MGB RXIII and CREDO also hope to forge collaborative ties with the media. Reporters from Surigao del Norte media outfits and various mining stakeholders participated in the press conference. The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII and Caraga mining firms participated in the 5th National Community Relations Officers’ Conference on November 22, 2017 at the CAP-John Hay Trade and Cultural Center in Baguio City. The conference was organized by the Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) in keeping with the 64th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) on November 21-24, 2017. The Community Relations Officers from different mining companies all over the Philippines attended the said conference with the theme, Consolidating Community Relations Work, Building Sustainable Mining Communities. The conference started with the welcome remarks of Engr. Louie Sarmiento, PMSEA President.  Atty. Wilfredo G. Moncano, MGB Director, delivered the Keynote Address. Hon. Martin Slabber, the Ambassador of South Africa to the Philippines, also imparted some relevant inputs. The symposium was one of the primary activities held during the 64th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) on November 21-24, 2017. The ANMSEC is a yearly gathering of mining firms in the country wherein the best practices in the industry’s social development, environmental protection and enhancement management and safety programs are highlighted and recognized. The theme of the 64th ANMSEC is Responsible Mining… In the Hearts and Minds of Filipinos. The Mines and Geosciences Bureau conducted the Training and Capability Building for MGB Personnel Responsible for Statistical Data and Analysis, Website Maintenance and Information Dissemination on September 18-22, 2017 at the Eurotel Vivaldi Hotel in Cubao, Metro Manila. On the first day of the training, the registration of participants and standard preliminaries took place. In the afternoon, the MGB Central Office gave an Orientation and Updates on Reportorial Requirements such as the Overview, Directory of Operating Mines/Accredited Dealers, Metallic Forms, Non-metallic Forms, SRS Forms 1-5, Reconciliation Report/Investment Form, Integrated Annual Report for large and small-scale mines (MGB Form 29-16 Metallic/Non-Metallic Minerals & Quarry Resources Mining and MGB Form 29-17 Small Scale Mining Permittee), and Taxes Forms.  The said orientation was given by the Mineral Economics, Information and Publications Division Staff of the MGB Central Office.  Atty.
