The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Assistant Secretary for Field Operations – Mindanao and Legislative Affairs, Dr. Joan A. Lagunda, visited the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII in Surigao City on September 22, 2021.

During her visit, Asec. Lagunda was accompanied by DENR Caraga Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services, For. Maritess M. Ocampo and OIC-PENR Officer of Surigao del Norte, For. Alejandra B. Boiser.

The Management and Staff headed by OIC-Regional Director Larry M. Heradez prepared a short program wherein the MGB Regional Office No. XIII and Caraga Minerals Industry Profiles were presented.  In her message, Asec. Lagunda stated the purpose of her visit.  “Since I oversee the regions here in Mindanao, my role is to motivate and inspire the personnel to do their jobs effectively and efficiently and at the same time monitor and evaluate the physical and financial accomplishments.  I came here to visit you personally and to welcome Engr. Larry Heradez as the MGB Caraga OIC-Regional Director.  I welcome you to be part of One Team Mindanao and One DENR. What is important is that we can sustain what we have started…  I am just here as your Assistant Secretary.  Please let me know whatever I can do and assist.  It is my role as an executive leader to guide people… Let us do our work well.  All that we do is for God, our country, our nature and our future,” Asec. Lagunda imparted.

On the same note, Asec. Lagunda had a brief interface with the personnel and took note of their issues and concerns with keenness and consideration before she took a quick tour of the office premises. 

Proper health protocols were observed throughout the conduct of the activity.

Asec. Lagunda also visited the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office of Tubay, Agusan del Norte and the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office of Surigao del Norte before the said activity.
