MGB ROXIII conducts Mining Forest Program Reorientation and Seminar-Workshop

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII conducted the Mining Forest Program Reorientation and Seminar-Workshop on July 13 to 14, 2022 at the MGB Regional Office No. XIII Training Center in Surigao City. The two-day activity aimed to unify understanding of the statutory foundation and reportorial submissions relative to various reforestation programs in compliance with Mining Forest Program (MFP), National Greening Program (NGP), Special Tree Cutting and/or Earth-Balling Permit (STCEBP) and other related matters. MGB ROXIII attends Trainings on Cybersecurity Competency Framework and Data Privacy Protection

In an effort to improve its services to the public, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII attended the Trainings on Cybersecurity Competency Framework and Data Privacy Protection on August 8 to 12, 2022 via Google Meet and Zoom Platforms. Aimed at harnessing the competitiveness of the government workforce towards an ICT-enabled society, the said trainings were conducted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology through its ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau. This endeavor reaffirms the MGB Regional Office No. XIII’s commitment to integrate information technology to its frontline services and other key processes. While information systems are vital tools for moving forward, the Bureau is also mindful of cybersecurity risks and vulnerabilities involved. The Cybersecurity Competency Framework will prepare the Bureau not only for efficient response to threats but also in securing its Information Technology assets. MGB ROXIII records decrease in issued OTP and MOEP for the 1st semester of CY 2022

As of June 30, 2022, the issuance of Ore Transport Permit (OTP) and Mineral Ore Export Permit (MOEP) posted a 21.92% and 26.69% decline or equivalent to 235 and 195 released permits, from last year’s 301 and 266, respectively. The decrease in number of OTP/MOEP issuance of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII for the first semester of CY 2022 was affected when the mining companies lowered their monthly target of OTP/MOEP application due to unfavorable weather condition and lethargic market, particularly manifested by export of nickel ore per shipment-related documents received by this Office. OTP and MOEP issuance dropped down for the first quarter of CY 2022 despite the high metal price during the period. MGB ROXIII conducts very first MGB Caraga Stakeholders’ Engagement of Dinagat Islands

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII conducted the very first MGB Caraga Stakeholders’ Engagement of Dinagat Islands on July 11 to 15, 2022 at the Vine’s Bed and Breakfast in San Jose, Province of Dinagat Islands.  Spearheaded by Regional Director Larry M. Heradez, together with Division Chiefs, Section Chiefs and other key personnel of MGB Regional Office No. XIII, the activity served as a venue for dialogue with local government units, mining companies and small-scale miners wherein the said stakeholders presented their respective updates, issues and concerns.  On a special note, DENR Assistant Secretary for Finance, Information Systems and Mining Concerns, Engr. MGB ROXIII conducts Values Orientation Workshop

In keeping with the National Government’s policy to foster high ethical standards in public service, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII conducted the Values Orientation Workshop on July 7 to 8, 2022 at the MGB Regional Office No. XIII Training Center in Surigao City. The workshop comprised five modules that centered on topics, namely Pagka-Tao, Pagka-Kalikasan, Pagka-Filipino, Pagka-Tagapaglingkod and Paglalagom (Integration).  It was facilitated by Ms. Naza May F. Camarin and Mr. Dan Jave L. Dumpa of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Caraga Regional Office.  Nearly half of the MGB Regional Office No. XIII workforce took part in the workshop. In its Roadmap of Development and Reforms, the CSC identified that the basic foundation in the spectrum of learning to develop competent and credible civil servants is on building character and integrity. MGB ROXIII, CMEMCI spearhead 2022 Environment Month Culmination Program

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in cooperation with the Caraga Mine Environmental Management Council, Inc. (CMEMCI), spearheaded the Culmination Program of the 2022 Philippine Environment Month Celebration of the Caraga minerals industry on June 30, 2022 in Surigao City. DENR Caraga spearheads launching of Regional Solid Waste Management Advocacy Campaign

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII participated in the Regional Solid Waste Management Advocacy Campaign Launch on June 15, 2022 at the Robinsons Place Atrium in Butuan City. The activity was spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Caraga Regional Office through its Regional Strategic Communication and Initiatives Group (RSCIG), in partnership with the  Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Caraga Regional Office.   At the program, “Pinas: The Basura Buster (PBB)” and the “Basura Buster” gaming application were introduced to the public. PBB is the DENR’s solid waste management advocacy campaign mascot which will enlist the help of the youth. Similarly, the gaming application is an online tool that will teach the children proper waste segregation in a fun way. It can be downloaded from the Google Play Store for free. MGB RO XIII launches MGB Kids for the Environment

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII held the Launch of the MGB Kids for the Environment on June 11, 2022 at the MGB Regional Office No. XIII Training Center in Surigao City. Attended by the children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews of MGB Regional Office No. XIII employees, the said launch started with the Welcome Remarks of Regional Director Larry M. Heradez.  It was then followed by the presentation on The Benefits of Trees given by For. Enjie G. Pacillos-Cañete, Senior Environmental Management Specialist. After the presentation, For. Pacillos-Cañete taught the children how to plant.  The children then planted their own ornamentals in pots which they took home after the activity.  They also signed the Pledge of Commitment in which they committed to plant more trees and tend them with dedication and constancy in support of environmental preservation. MGB ROXIII, PENRO SDN and CENRO Tubod take part in Simultaneous National Tree Planting Activity

In keeping with the Philippine Environment Month Celebration, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office of Surigao del Norte and the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office of Tubod took part in the Simultaneous National Tree Planting Activity on June 8, 2022 at the Provincial Tree Park in Brgy. Ipil, Surigao City. MGB Caraga Regional Director Larry M. Heradez; For. Joseph E. Langanlangan, Technical Services Division OIC-Chief of PENRO Surigao del Norte; and Mr. Ruel E. Efren, CENR Officer of Tubod spearheaded the said activity. PENRO SDN, MGB ROXIII and CMEMCI kick off 2022 Environment Month Celebration

The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office of Surigao del Norte and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in cooperation with the Caraga Mine Environmental Management Council, Inc., kicked off the 2022 Environment Month Celebration with a caravan and a short program on June 1 in Surigao City.  At the program, messages were delivered by the PENR Officer of Surigao del Norte, For. Alejandra B. Boiser; the MGB Caraga Regional Director, Engr. Larry M. Heradez, and the CENR Officer of Tubod, Mr. Ruel E. Efren.  Moreover, various partners from the Philippine Army, Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine Ports Authority were awarded with Certificates of Commendation in recognition of their commitment and support to the enforcement of relevant environmental laws as well as the implementation of environmental protection in the Province of Surigao del Norte.
