MGB RXIII-Dinagat Satellite Office takes part in Earth Day Coastal Clean-up

In keeping with the 2018 Earth Day Celebration, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. Xlll-Dinagat Satellite Office took part in a coastal clean-up on April 20, 2018 at Santa Cruz in the Municipality of San Jose, Province of Dinagat Islands. With the theme “End Plastic Pollution,” the said activity was spearheaded by the Provincial Government of Dinagat Islands through the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENRO-LGU) in partnership with local and national agencies as well as concerned civil society organizations. The MGB RXIII-Dinagat Satellite Office personnel, headed at that time by Engr. Brenice Ann M. Gendeve-Castillo as the Officer-in-Charge, participated in the activity which commenced at 6:00 A.M. during low tide in Santa Cruz as their assigned area. Collected waste gathered by various groups were endorsed to the designated point per area of assignment for proper waste disposal. MGB RXIII conducts Training on the Principles and Applications of Remote Sensing and GIS

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in coordination with Caraga Mine Environmental Management Council (CMEMC) through Caraga State University-College of Engineering and Information Technology (CSU-CEIT) professors, conducted a five-day Training on the Principles and Applications of Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System (GIS) on March 12-16, 2018 at Hotel Oazis, Butuan City. This was participated by staff from Mine Environmental Protection and Enhancement Office (MEPEO) and Engineering Office of all Caraga mining companies and selected MGB RXIII technical staff. The training objectives were to realistically come up with National Greening Program and Mining Forest Program spatial data, based on the 2012 National Greening Program standard requirement, that will eventually be reflected in the mobile application Environmentor and to generate a spatial data not just on rehabilitated areas but also disturbed areas in compliance with the Sustainable Integrated Area Development (SIAD) requirements. MGB RXIII, CREDO, CMCRI and CMSHC hold 1st Quarterly Press Conference

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in cooperation with the Community Relations, Education & Development Officers Organization (CREDO Caraga), Inc., Chamber of Mines of Caraga Region Incorporated (CMCRI) and Caraga Mine Safety and Health Council (CMSHC), held a press conference on March 16, 2018 at the Philippine Gateway Hotel in Surigao City. The activity aimed to heighten public awareness of the assistance and rescue efforts of the Caraga minerals industry after the onslaught of Tropical Storm Basyang that inflicted loss of life and property damage.  It also aimed to inform the public of the state of small-scale mining activities in Caraga Region. MGB RXIII and CREDO conduct SDMP Rollout-Consultation and Reorientation

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in cooperation with the Community Relations, Education and Development Officers Organization (CREDO) Caraga, Inc., conducted the SDMP Rollout-Consultation and Reorientation on December 1-2, 2017 at the Parklane International Hotel in Cebu City. Representatives of Caraga local government units, Community Relations Officers and official representatives of mining companies and processing plants, together with the Social Development Section personnel of MGB RXIII, took part in the activity. The Department of the Interior and Local Government – Caraga Regional Office also participated in the activity. MGB RXIII and CREDO hold 4th Quarterly Press Conference

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in cooperation with the Community Relations, Education & Development Officers (CREDO) Caraga, Inc., held the 4th Quarterly Press Conference on December 15, 2017 at the Philippine Gateway Hotel in Surigao City. The press conference aimed to intensify public awareness of the current state of the Caraga minerals industry.  It also aimed to foster the participation of and dialogue between the media and the mining stakeholders in achieving the common goals of responsible mining, ecological sustainability and social development. MGB RXIII and Caraga mining firms participate in the 5th National Community Relations Officers’ Conference

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII and Caraga mining firms participated in the 5th National Community Relations Officers’ Conference on November 22, 2017 at the CAP-John Hay Trade and Cultural Center in Baguio City. The conference was organized by the Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) in keeping with the 64th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) on November 21-24, 2017. The Community Relations Officers from different mining companies all over the Philippines attended the said conference with the theme, Consolidating Community Relations Work, Building Sustainable Mining Communities. The conference started with the welcome remarks of Engr. Louie Sarmiento, PMSEA President.  Atty. Wilfredo G. Moncano, MGB Director, delivered the Keynote Address. Hon. MGB RXIII and Caraga mining firms take part in the 64th ANMSEC Minerals Industry Symposium

            The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII and Caraga mining firms took part in the Minerals Industry Symposium on November 23, 2017 at the CAP-John Hay Trade and Cultural Center in Baguio City. The symposium was one of the primary activities held during the 64th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) on November 21-24, 2017. The ANMSEC is a yearly gathering of mining firms in the country wherein the best practices in the industry’s social development, environmental protection and enhancement management and safety programs are highlighted and recognized. The theme of the 64th ANMSEC is Responsible Mining… In the Hearts and Minds of Filipinos. MGB RXIII leads 2017 Environment Month Celebration of Caraga minerals industry

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII led the 2017 Environment Month Celebration of the Caraga minerals industry. MGB RXIII, in cooperation with the Caraga Mine Environmental Management Council and the Community Relations, Education & Development Officers Organization (CREDO), Inc., conducted a four-day Information, Education and Communication Caravan in select areas within Caraga Region which culminated in a Press Conference in Butuan City. The theme of this year’s celebration is “Connecting People to Nature” which encourages us to think about how we are part of nature and how we independently depend on it. In line with the theme, the caravan aimed to educate people from non-mining communities how the minerals industry plays its role in the utilization of vast mineral resources and the efforts made by mining companies to give back to nature measures for protection and enhancement and social development.
