The Regional Development Council of Caraga endorsed the FY 2017 Budget Proposals of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, regional line agencies and state colleges and universities during the 86th Regional Development Council Meeting on March 2, 2016 at the National Economic and Development Authority Conference Room in Butuan City.

The full council meeting was presided by Surigao del Norte Provincial Governor Sol F. Matugas in her capacity as Regional Development Council Chairperson.  The RDC Vice Chairperson, NEDA Caraga Regional Director Mylah Faye Aurora B. Cariño, presented the 2016 Regional Development Council Work and Financial Plan. Director Cariño also presented the Analysis of the Budget of Caraga Region for the past three years and the FY 2017 Caraga RDC Budget Review Process.

The highlight of the meeting was the endorsement of the FY 2017 Budget Proposals of Regional Line Agencies and State Colleges and Universities which were presented according to their respective committees, namely, Development Administration Committee, Economic Development Committee, Infrastructure Development Committee and Social Development Committee.

The Regional Development Council – Development Administration Committee Chairperson, Hon. Dale B. Corvera, presented a resolution for endorsement. The endorsement of RDC XI Resolution No. 56, Series of 2015 entitled “Endorsing to Philippine Congress to Review and Consider Amendments to RA 8291 and Related Laws on Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) Retirement Packages” was approved by the council.

As the Philippine National Police Regional Director, PCSupt. Rolando B. Felix presented the Peace and Security Situationer of Caraga Region. The PNP Regional Director underscored the significant improvement of PNP operations based on illegal drug confiscation and other crimes as compared to CY 2014.

Prior to the endorsement of budget proposals, the RDC conducted the Regional Development Council – Economic Development Committee (RDC-EDC) Budget Consultation with the Civil Society Organization wherein the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII and various regional line agencies presented their respective FY 2017 Budget Proposals.

The activity ended with the endorsement of all budget proposals to Philippine Congress for review, consideration and approval.
