The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII and mining firms supported the People’s Day of Surigao del Norte on February 12, 2016 at the Provincial Gymnasium in Surigao City.

With the theme “Gugma Serbisyo sa Katawhan,” the event is a project of the Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte with the support of national line agencies.  Regional Director Alilo C. Ensomo, Jr. and a good number of MGB ROXIII personnel took part in the event which constituted of medical services, job fair, NBI Clearance processing, market day, free trainings and technical assistance, and cooperative registration.

The event started with a motorcade, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an opening program where City Mayor Ernesto T. Matugas, Provincial Governor Sol F. Matugas, Congressman Francisco T. Matugas and Atty. Mary Ann Lucille Sering delivered words of welcome and messages of inspiration.  In her message, Governor Sol F. Matugas  underscored that the People’s Day is a big event that people can really enjoy and avail themselves of various services that will benefit them in keeping with the mandate of the Provincial Government to focus on the welfare of the people through various services.

During the Ceremonial Turnover of Projects and Assistance, Regional Director Dominga D. Mallonga of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) turned over Project HANDA Server, Starbooks, PCTC equipment and a capping machine while Regional Director Johnson G. Cañete of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) turned over a decorticating machine.  As for the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Regional Director Samuel S. Madrid turned over a check for scholars and livelihood assistance.  In appreciation of the said turnover of projects and assistance, Provincial Vice Governor Arturo Carlos A. Egay, Jr. delivered a message of gratitude.

  • Department of Foreign Affairs – Mobile Passporting
  • Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Distribution of seedlings and regulatory checklist for the acquisition of land
  • Department of Agrarian Reform – Legal Cliniquing
  • Department of Social Welfare and Development – Public Help Desk (adoption, foster care, etc.) and advocacy activity
  • Department of Trade and Industry – Business Name Registration Processing
  • Department of Education (Surigao del Norte) – Programs and Projects, Alternative Learning System and K to 12
  • Provincial Health Office – Medical Services
  • Department of Science and Technology – Information Desk
  • Commission on Higher Education – Scholarship Programs
  • Public Attorney’s Office – Free Legal Services

Mining firms such as Taganito Mining Corporation, Taganito HPAL Nickel Corporation, Platinum Group Metals Corporation, Greenstone Resources Corporation, Hinatuan Mining Corporation and Cagdianao Mining Corporation participated in the job fair to give information to potential employees.  A number of recruitment agencies and private companies also participated in the job fair to give information on local and overseas employment. Mobile passporting and other services were offered until February 14.
