In keeping with the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, the Gender and Development Focal Point System of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII conducted the Gender Sensitivity Training on December 6, 2022 at the MGB Regional Office No. XIII Training Center in Surigao City. With the theme “UNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippines”, this year’s campaign underscores the powerful impact of combining individual efforts towards a collaborative and united thrust towards a VAW-free Philippines. The Mines and Geosciences Bureau conducted the 17th MGBEA Annual National Convention and 8th MGBEA National Congress on November 23 to 25, 2022 at the Swiss-Belhotel Blulane in Sta. Cruz, Manila. With the theme “Enhancing Employee Empowerment Towards Public Service Excellence,” the event was held in keeping with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Employees Association’s efforts to consolidate, strengthen and unite its officers and members.  It was spearheaded by the MGBEA National Chapter and participated by Officers of MGBEA National, Central and Regional Chapters. The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII carried on with its virtual Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign on the Results of Vulnerability and Risk Assessment (VRA) Project and Training-Workshop on Understanding Risk Exposure Maps for the Municipalities of Tubay and Santiago, Province of Agusan del Norte on November 3 to 4, 2022 via Zoom Platform.  In consideration of the significant decrease in COVID-19 cases for the past few months, the MGB Regional Office No. XIII personnel conducted a face-to-face pre-coordination meeting with the officials of the said Local Government Units (LGUs) on October 26, 2022. On the same note, the Office still follows strict protocols and even decided to conduct its IEC campaigns virtually via Zoom Platform in view of the prevalence of COVID-19.            The Mines and Geosciences Bureau conducted a Training and Capability Building for MGB Personnel Responsible for Statistical Data and Analysis and Information Dissemination on October 24 to 28, 2022 at the Swiss-Belhotel Blulane in Sta. Cruz, Metro Manila.            Carried out through a hybrid platform (combined face-to-face and virtual modes), the activity was spearheaded by the Mineral Economics, Information and Publication Division (MEIPD) of the MGB Central Office and attended by Economists and Information Officers of MGB Central Office and Regional Offices.            On the first day of the training, Ms. Ruth Caro, a representative of Microsoft, Inc., gave a presentation on the software application, Microsoft Power BI and a demonstration of its use.  The said software application is one of the different Microsoft Power Platforms which provides for a data and analytics reporting tool that helps organizations bring together disparate data sets into reporting dashboards.
