MGB ROXIII holds Orientation-Workshop on Reportorial Requirements and Compliance Monitoring

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII held an Orientation-Workshop on the Revised MGB Form No. 29-16 and Other Monitoring Reports Relative to Mineral Statistics and Economics and Regional Memorandum No. 2018-08 on January 30–31, 2019 at the Philippine Gateway Hotel in Surigao City. This is in line with the ongoing thrust of the government to effectively monitor the wealth accruing to the government and communities as a result of mining, particularly in the administration and disposition of mineral resources. The two-day activity was attended by 26 personnel from MGB RO No. XIII, together with 70 participants from 23 Caraga mining companies. MGB RXIII, CREDO Caraga hold Press Conference

The Philippine Information Agency Caraga Regional Office and reporters from Surigao del Norte media outfits along with Resident Mine Managers, Community Relations Officers and a good number of personnel from Caraga mining companies took part in the activity. Regional Director Roger A. De Dios delivered the Welcome Remarks. In his message, he expressed that the industry is one with the nation in facing the sad scenarios of landslide incidents in Itogon, Benguet and Naga City, Cebu.  Dir. De Dios stated that the recent DENR and MGB issuances of Administrative Orders and Memorandum Circulars are crucial to the improvement of the minerals industry’s policies and guidelines. MGB RXIII holds Orientation Workshop on Guidelines for Compliance Monitoring and Rating/Scorecard of Mining Permits/Contracts

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII held a two-day Orientation Workshop on Memorandum Circular No. 2018-02 re: Guidelines for Compliance Monitoring and Rating/Scorecard of Mining Permits/Contracts on September 4-5, 2018 at Parkway Hotel in Surigao City. The activity was conducted to ensure that mining companies will have a clear understanding of the new procedures for monitoring of tenements, safety and health, environmental management, and social development (TSHES) compliance requirements using the revised monitoring checklist and accomplishing the scorecard to determine their level of compliance. It was participated by 135 officers and staff of 29 Caraga mining companies. MGB Caraga Regional Director Roger A. MGB conducts Orientation-Workshop on New MGB Policies and 2018 Mid-Year Management Conference

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau conducted the Orientation-Workshop on New MGB Policies and 2018 Mid-Year Management Conference on July 31 to August 3, 2018 at the Hotel Rembrandt in Quezon City. The activity was participated by technical personnel from the Mine Management Division (MMD) and the Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division (MSESDD) of the Regional Offices. The activity aimed to ensure the efficient monitoring of tenements, safety and health, environmental management and social development (T-SHES) compliance requirements using the revised monitoring checklist as well as accomplishing the scorecard to determine the level of compliance of mining companies.  Similarly, it aimed to orient the MGB technical personnel on the procedure for apprehension and other activities related to DENR efforts to curb illegal mining operations in the country. MGB RXIII Social Development Section carries on with its continuing IEC Campaign on SDMP Manual of Operation

The Social Development Section (SDS) of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII carried on with its continuing Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Campaign on the newly issued Social Development and Management Program-Manual of Operation (SDMP-MOO) of the Regional Office in order for its mining stakeholders to keep abreast of the recent policies and development pertaining to SDMP implementation. As the regulatory agency, it is also imperative for MGB RXIII to orient and capacitate the 2018 newly elected barangay officials as the BLGU is one of the members of the Representatives of the Host and Neighboring Communities (RHNC). MGB RXIII and CMEMC spearhead 2018 Environment Month Culminating Activities of Caraga minerals industry

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in partnership with the Caraga Mine Environmental Management Council (CMEMC), spearheaded the 2018 Environment Month Culminating Activities of Caraga minerals industry on June 28-29, 2018 at St. Paul University Surigao Gymnasium. The said event aimed to intensify public awareness of environmental preservation and instill in the participants from mining companies and host communities a sense of accountability as stewards of the environment. MGB RXIII, CREDO and PSEM hold Press Conference in Surigao City

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in cooperation with the Community Relations, Education & Development Officers Organization (CREDO Caraga), Inc. and the Philippine Society of Mining Engineers, held a press conference on June 14, 2018 at the Philippine Gateway Hotel in Surigao City. In keeping with the 2018 Mining Engineers’ Convention and Environment Month Celebration, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII and the Philippine Society of Mining Engineers served as coastal stewards on June 14, 2018 in Brgy. San Juan, Surigao City. A coastal cleanup was MGB RXIII and PSEM’s immediate response to current overwhelming problems in plastic pollution and waste management. MGB RXIII joins DENR Caraga’s Environment Month and Philippine Eagle’s Week Celebrations

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII is one with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Caraga Regional Office in the celebrations of the Environment Month and Philippine Eagle’s Week during the Kick-off Activity on June 4, 2018 in Butuan City. The theme of the 2018 Environment Month is Beat Plastic Pollution: If you can’t reuse it, refuse it while the theme of the Philippine Eagle’s Week is Ipagdiwang ang Pagkakaisa para sa Malayang Agila.  The Environment Month Celebration covers the period of June 1-30, 2018 while the Philippine Eagle’s Week Celebration is from June 4-10, 2018. MGB RXIII and CREDO capacitate Community Relations Officers of Caraga minerals industry

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in cooperation with the Community Relations, Education and Development Officers Organization (CREDO) Caraga, Inc., conducted the two-day SDMP Capacity Enhancement Seminar for the Community Relations Officers in Caraga on May 30 to 31, 2018 at the Philippine Gateway Hotel in Surigao City. Community Relations Officers and community organizers of mining companies and processing plants, together with the Social Development Section personnel of MGB RXIII, actively took part in the activity.  The training was facilitated by Dr. Rolando Cuaño and Ms. Marita Cuaño of BMP Environment and Community Care, Inc. in response to the program of Regional Director Roger A.
