16th MGBEA National Convention and 7th MGBEA National Congress: Advocating Employee Empowerment and Public Service Excellence

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau held the 16th MGBEA National Convention and 7th MGBEA National Congress on April 22 to 25, 2019 at the Microtel by Wyndham in UP-Ayala Land Technohub, Diliman, Quezon City. With the theme Enhancing Employee Empowerment Towards Public Service Excellence, the event was conducted in keeping with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Employees Association’s efforts to consolidate, strengthen and unite its officers and members pursuant to Article VII, Section 5 of the 2017 MGBEA-MGB Collective Negotiation Agreement on the subject of Employees Welfare and Professional Development.  The Officers of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Employees Association from the National, Central and Regional Chapters took part in the event. MGBEA holds Employees Performance Management, Welfare and Development Workshop and 16th Annual National MGBEA Convention

In its continuing effort to strengthen its commitment to provide assistance and protect the welfare of its members pursuant to the 2017 MGBEA-MGB Collective Negotiations Agreement, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Employees’ Association held the Employees Performance Management, Welfare and Development Workshop on May 28 to June 1, 2018 at Brentwood Suites in Quezon City with the theme “Sa Malusog at Maunlad na Kawani, Epektibong Serbisyo Publiko ay Madali” in conjunction with the 16th Annual National MGBEA Convention.  At the event, two Resource Speakers from the Civil Service Commission presented the Study on the Implementation of the Economic and Non-Economic Benefits in the Collective Negotiation Agreement and Public Sector Unionism. The implementation of the Three (3) Year Strategic Plan of the 2017-2020 MGBEA-MGB Collective Negotiations Agreement was discussed during the plenary. Rep. Ciriaco “Acoy” S. MGBEA RXIII conducts Stress Debriefing Session and Lecture on Seismic Hazards for employees

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Employees Association (MGBEA) Caraga Chapter conducted a stress debriefing session on March 20, 2017 at the MGB RXIII Training Center in Surigao City. The said activity was aimed at helping all MGB RXIII employees who were affected by the magnitude-6.7 earthquake that hit Surigao City on February 10, 2017 and the series of aftershocks that followed. Ms. Maria Rosana M. Enano, a Nurse from the Provincial Health Office – Surigao del Norte (PHO-SDN), gave a lecture about stress debriefing and its importance to each individual. After the lecture, the employees were grouped into four for sharing and reflection.The main objective of the activity was to give each participant a chance to share his/her experience during the earthquake. MGBEA R13 Officers attend the GSIS Public Sector Unions’ Consultation

Officers of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Employees Association (MGBEA) Caraga Chapter attended the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS)-Public Sector Union’s Consultation on October 20, 2015 at the Philippine Gateway Hotel, Surigao City.  It was attended by representatives of the National Line Agencies, and Local Government Units within Surigao del Norte. Atty. Jason C. Teng, GSIS Acting-Vice President for Mindanao presented the updates on GSIS policies and programs.  He discussed the institutionalizing reforms undertaken by GSIS to provide a more responsive service to members and pensioners. He cited that the new GSIS is more transparent, more consultative and more members focused. Reforms for Pensioners: GSIS restored the survivorship benefit of surviving spouses even if they are gainfully employed or receiving income or pension from other institutions.
