MGB RXIII conducts GAD Forum on RA 7877

In keeping with the GAD Program and Initiatives of the National Government, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII conducted the Forum on Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995 on May 8, 2018 at the MGB RXIII Training Center in Surigao City. The MGB RXIII Gender and Development Focal Point System organized the said in-house forum which was attended by the employees. Ms. Florian T. Trinidad, Provincial GAD Focal Person and Officer-in-Charge of Provincial Center for Women’s Training and Development of Surigao del Norte, took part in the forum as the Resource Speaker. She gave a comprehensive presentation on the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995. Ms. Trinidad has been in government service for 20 years. MGB RXIII celebrates 2018 National Women’s Month

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII is one with the nation in celebrating the 2018 National Women’s Month with the theme We Make Change Work For Women. A series of activities were conducted to heighten awareness of the celebration.  A film seminar on the award-winning advocacy film “Boses” was conducted to MGB RXIII employees on March 15, 2018 at the MGB Training Center in Surigao City. The film seminar comprised a film viewing session with discussions on Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) which was facilitated by Ms. Mary Grace L. Dela Concepcion of Erasto Films.  The film seminar aimed to promote the continuous pursuit of achieving a VAW-free community through everyone’s commitment and contributions to end violence against women and children. MGB RXIII Gender and Development Focal Point System observes World Water Day

The Gender and Development Focal Point System of Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII conducted a mangrove planting activity on March 22, 2017 in Brgy. San Isidro, Surigao City in keeping with the 2017 World Water Day Celebration. With the theme “Wastewater,” this year’s celebration centers on wastewater and ways to reduce and reuse it as over 80% of all wastewater from our homes, cities, industry and agriculture that flows back to the environment results in pollution and loss of nutrients. This calls for the need to improve the collection, treatment and safe reuse of wastewater. Similarly, the reduction of the quantity and pollution load of wastewater we produce is strongly encouraged in order to help protect the environment and our water resources. MGB conducts the Strategic Planning for the 2018 MGB GAD Work Plan and Budget and Orientation on Basic Concepts on Gender and Development

In line with the Gender and Development goals embodied in the Magna Carta of Women, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau conducted the Strategic Planning for the 2018 Mines and Geosciences Bureau GAD Work Plan and Budget and Orientation on Basic Concepts on Gender and Development on September 26 to 30, 2016 at the Camelot Hotel in Quezon City, Metro Manila which was attended by GAD representatives of MGB Central Office and Regional Offices. The first day of the activity commenced with an opening ceremony wherein the participants were acknowledged by the MGB Central Office. MGB ROXIII takes part in the 2016 Women’s Month Culminating Program

Personnel of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII took part in the 2016 Women’s Month Culminating Program spearheaded by the Regional Development Council – Gender and Development Coordinating Committee (RDC-GADCC) on March 31, 2016 at the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) grounds in Butuan City. With the theme “Kaayuhan ni Juana, I-apil sa Adyenda!,” this year’s Women’s Month celebration resonates the call for gender balance in leadership and decision-making positions in public and private sectors; inclusion of women’s concerns in leadership platforms and the government’s development agenda; and capacitating and preparing women and girls to fulfill their ambitions.  Various national line agencies and local government units participated in the event to support the advocacy concerning Filipino women. MGB ROXIII and various national line agencies celebrate Blue Day

In observance of the 2016 National Women’s Month with the theme “An Karajawan ni Juana, Ilakip sa Adyenda!,” personnel from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII celebrated Blue Day on March 8, 2016 at the Surigao City Boulevard. Bringing with them festive blue balloons, representatives from various national line agencies participated in the said activity. The significance of the event is to promote the advocacy as it raises the level of public awareness of gender-related issues and appreciation for women’s contributions to society. The activity started with a fun walk from the City Hall compound down to the City Boulevard in front of the City Police Station where a short program was held. Dr. Arlene T. MGB ROXIII joins 12th Women’s Month Kalandrakas

In keeping with the 2016 National Women’s Month Celebration, personnel of theMines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII joined the 12th Kalandrakas on March 8, 2016 at Balanghai Hotel & Convention Center in Butuan City. With the theme “Kaayuhan ni Juana, I-apil sa Adyenda!,” the event was spearheaded by the Gender and Development Coordinating Council Committee (GADCC) under the Regional Development Council of Caraga with the support of national line agencies and local government units.  Ms. Edna S. Hontiveros, Vice Chair of the RDC-GADCC, delivered a message to welcome all guests and participants. MGB ROXIII personnel join the One Billion Rising Revolution

Personnel of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII joined the One Billion Rising event on February 12, 2016 at the Robinson’s Mall Atrium in Butuan City. With the theme “One Billion Rising: Rise for Revolution,” the event was spearheaded by the Gender and Development Coordinating Council Committee (GADCC) under the Regional Development Council of Caraga with the support of national line agencies.  The GADCC Co-Chairperson, Ms. Edna S. Hontiveros, delivered a short message about the history of the One Billion Rising movement and its advocacies. One Billion Rising is the biggest mass action to end violence against women in history.  This year’s theme calls for “structural, systemic, long-term change” to intensify actions and advocacies to put an end to women abuse and domestic violence.
