18th Annual Technical Forum: An affirmation of MGB’s continuous pursuit of knowledge and professional development

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau conducted the 2016 Annual Technical Forum with the theme “The Mineral Industry and The Geosciences: Challenges and Opportunities in the Changing Times” on November 10-12, 2016 at the Widus Hotel in Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga. This year’s forum was hosted by MGB Regional Office No. III headed by OIC/Regional Director Lope O. Cariño, Jr.  Marking its 18th year, the said event is the first ever technical forum to be conducted outside Metro Manila. As the keynote speaker, Regional Executive Director Israel C. Gaddi talked about his work stint at the Mines and Geosciences Bureau. He challenged the participants to preserve their dignity and integrity as MGB employees. MGB ROXIII attends Orientation on Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII attended the Orientation on Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) for Five Component Cities of Caraga Region conducted by the Office of Civil Defense Caraga on September 2, 2016 at the Buenavista Hall of Almont Inland Resort in Butuan City. The orientation was attended by participants from the Cities of Bislig and Tandag, Surigao del Sur and the City of Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte. During the first session of the orientation, an overview of the Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) was presented by Mr. Amado M. MGB ROXIII personnel attend Presentation of PCIEERD-funded Projects and Research Proposal Writeshop

Personnel of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII attended the presentation of the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD)-Funded Projects cum Research Proposal Writeshop on March 9-11, 2016 at the Function Hall of the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office No. XIII in Ampayon, Butuan City. The three-day activity was a collaboration project between PCIEERD and the Eastern Mindanao Energy and Emerging Technology Research Alliance for Development (EMIEERALD). It was an incorporation of the presentation of the PCIEERD-funded projects and writeshop of research proposals for possible PCIEERD-funded projects for FY 2017. Regional Development Council endorses FY 2017 Budget Proposals of MGB ROXIII, Regional Line Agencies and State Colleges and Universities

The Regional Development Council of Caraga endorsed the FY 2017 Budget Proposals of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, regional line agencies and state colleges and universities during the 86th Regional Development Council Meeting on March 2, 2016 at the National Economic and Development Authority Conference Room in Butuan City. The full council meeting was presided by Surigao del Norte Provincial Governor Sol F. Matugas in her capacity as Regional Development Council Chairperson.  The RDC Vice Chairperson, NEDA Caraga Regional Director Mylah Faye Aurora B. Cariño, presented the 2016 Regional Development Council Work and Financial Plan. MGB ROXIII participates in the CSU MEM and MSCS Program Stakeholder Evaluation Workshop

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII representative, Mr. Carl Orven C. Eludo, attended the Master in Environmental Management (MEM) and Master of Science in Crop Science (MSCS) Program Stakeholder Evaluation Workshop on February 27, 2016 at the Caraga State University Conference Room in Butuan City. The main purpose of the workshop is for CSU to collect inputs from the stakeholders in its plan for the revision and consolidation of both master’s courses into one. CSU encouraged the various stakeholders to help them formulate the right subjects that should be offered for the said course. Dr. Rowena P. MGB ROXIII and various national line agencies present respective FY 2017 Budget Proposals at the RDC-EDC Budget Consultation with the Civil Society Organization

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII and various national line agencies presented their respective FY 2017 Budget Proposals at the Regional Development Council – Economic Development Committee (RDC-EDC) Budget Consultation with the Civil Society Organization on February 24, 2016 at Balanghai Hotel and Convention Center in Butuan City. The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Director, Ms. Mylah Faye Aurora B. Cariño, emphasized the importance of the said consultation in her Welcome Remarks. Dir. Cariño stressed that it is one of the requirements prior to the endorsement of the proposed budget to national level. MGB ROXIII and mining firms support People’s Day of Surigao del Norte

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII and mining firms supported the People’s Day of Surigao del Norte on February 12, 2016 at the Provincial Gymnasium in Surigao City. With the theme “Gugma Serbisyo sa Katawhan,” the event is a project of the Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte with the support of national line agencies.  Regional Director Alilo C. Ensomo, Jr. and a good number of MGB ROXIII personnel took part in the event which constituted of medical services, job fair, NBI Clearance processing, market day, free trainings and technical assistance, and cooperative registration. MGB holds 2015 Annual Technical Forum

The DENR-Mines and Geosciences Bureau held its 2015 Annual Technical Forum on November 12 to 14, 2015 at One Tagaytay Place Hotel Suites in Tagaytay City. With the theme of “Issues and Challenges Towards Innovations in Geosciences and the Mineral Industry,” the forum started with a program wherein MGB Director Leo L. Jasareno delivered his opening remarks. In his message, Dir. Jasareno challenged and encouraged everyone to undertake continuous learning and establish a bureau that is a ‘manufacturing plant’ of expert scientists. “The 2015 Annual Technical Forum is part of the process of sustaining this sharing of information. I look forward to the next forum where I think we will just put our hearts into it that an academy maybe emplaced in the next two years for the first time. MGB R13 supports 2015 Division Science Quest, Fair, Quiz, Yes-O and Training Camp

The Agusan River Basin Summit was held on September 3 to 4, 2015 at Almont Inland Resort in Butuan City.
