Philippine Science High School-Caraga Region Campus goes on an education fi...

In keeping with the vision and mission of advancing premier high school Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, the Philippine Science High School-Caraga Region Campus went on an education field trip to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII on April 1, 2024 in Surigao City.  The said field trip for the class Biology 4 (Critical Environment and Health Critical Issues) aimed to familiarize the students with the principles of sustainable mining, environmental impact assessments, and community engagement strategies employed within the minerals industry. During the field trip, the students took part in learning sessions on Geology and Mineral Resources of Caraga Region, Caraga Minerals Industry and Safety and Health, Environment and Social Impacts and the Mitigating Strategies of the Mining Industry given by the MGB technical personnel.  The students were also taken on a guided tour of the Bureau’s divisions, analytical laboratory and other facilities. The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII conducted an Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign on Vulnerability and Risk Assessment (VRA) and Small-Scale Mining Orientation and Training on Occupational Safety and Health on March 12, 2024 at CN Inland Resort in Rosario, Agusan del Sur.  The goal of the IEC-VRA campaign is to provide the Small-Scale Miners and the Municipal Local Government Unit with supplementary technical details concerning Risk Exposure. This information aims to support the development of risk-sensitive land-use, development, and disaster risk reduction and management plans and programs.  During the IEC-VRA campaign, the discussions covered two main topics. Firstly, Engr. Rodnil G. Rodriguez, Science Research Specialist II, presented the findings of the Small-Scale Mining and Mineral Processing Inventory conducted at Rosario, Agusan del Sur. Ceremonial Acceptance and Signing of the Declaration of Minahang Bayan of B...

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII and the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur conducted the Ceremonial Acceptance and Signing of the Declaration of Minahang Bayan of Barangay Sta. Cruz Small-Scale Mining Association of Rosario Agusan Del Sur (BSCSSMARADS) on March 12, 2024 at CN Inland Resort in Rosario, Agusan del Sur.  The BSCSSMARADS has been officially declared as a People’s Small-Scale Mining Area or Minahang Bayan, covering a total area of 40 hectares, through the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board Resolution (PMRB) No. 18 Series of 2024. This milestone in the Caraga minerals industry was spearheaded by the Provincial Governor of Agusan del Sur, Hon. Santiago B. Cane, Jr., and the MGB Caraga Regional Director, Engr. Larry M. MGB ROXIII marks 2024 National Women’s Month Celebration by mine tours at...

In keeping with the 2024 National Women’s Month Celebration and as part of the continuing education program of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, a select number of personnel took part in mine tours at Greenstone Resources Corporation (GRC) and Agata Mining Ventures, Inc. (AMVI) on March 8, 2024.  At GRC in Tubod, Surigao del Norte, the MGB ROXIII personnel were heartily welcomed and serenaded by Ms. Jesalyn A. Guingguing, Director for Tenement, Compliance and Environment of TVI Resource Development Philippines Inc., and Mr. Kahlil Pope B. Tabernero, Community Relations Office Manager of GRC, together with the staff. MGB ROXIII holds Geoscience Workshop 2024

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau held the Geoscience Workshop 2024 on February 26 to March 1, 2024 at Ardenhills Suites in Quezon City. The theme of this year’s workshop is Taking on the Challenges of Innovation for the Advancement of MGB’s Geoscience Programs.  Carried out through a hybrid platform (combined face-to-face and virtual modes), the workshop was spearheaded by the Lands Geological Survey Division.  It served as a venue for the comprehensive discussion of accomplishments, projects and road map of various geoscience programs and was attended by geologists from the MGB Central Office and Regional Offices. The first day started with a plenary session for all the participants wherein the MGB OIC-Director, Atty. Danilo U. Caraga mining companies mobilize Emergency Response Teams following Masara landslide

Several Caraga mining companies have mobilized their Emergency Response Teams (ERTs) to respond to the landslide incident that occurred in the evening of February 6, 2024, at Zone 1, Barangay Masara, Municipality of Maco, Province of Davao de Oro. On February 7, 2024, Mines and Geosciences Bureau Caraga Regional Director Larry M. Heradez sent a Letter addressed to the Resident Mine Managers through the Safety Managers of the Caraga mining companies encouraging them to provide support and show compassion to those affected by the unfortunate incident.  In response, a number of mining companies prepared their respective ERTs to be deployed to the incident area.  Similarly, some mining companies prepared relief goods and services for the survivors and affected families. MGB ROXIII deliberates on 2024 Annual Social Development and Management Program of Caraga minerals industry

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII has deliberated on the 2024 Annual Social Development and Management Program (ASDMP) of the Caraga minerals industry on January 9 to 31, 2024 at the MGB Regional Office No. XIII Training Center in Surigao City. After the deliberations, Regional Director Larry M. MGB ROXIII distributes Certificates of Approval for 2024 Safety and Health Program of Caraga minerals industry

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII distributed the  Certificates of Approval for 2024 Safety and Health Program of the Caraga minerals industry during the first regular meeting of the year of the Caraga Mine Safety and Health Council (CMSHC) on January 27, 2024 at the MGB Regional Office No. XIII Training Center in Surigao City. The Safety and Health Program was developed as a comprehensive plan to ensure that mine workers have a fair, secure, and humane working environment through the promotion of safety and health culture, enforcement of safety and health rules and regulations, participation in trainings and the development of human resources, and establishment of an efficient system of monitoring, inspection, and investigations to improve safety and health. 2024 DENR-EMB-MGB Caraga Integrated IEC Action Plan: Strengthening communication strategies

In an effort to create a roadmap for the implementation of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ information, education and communication (IEC) activities anchored to the thrusts and priority programs of Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo Loyzaga and to ensure that the strategies and interventions are effective and sustainable in order to achieve the behavioural change desired for Caraga Region, the DENR Regional Office No. XIII through its Regional Strategic Communication and Initiatives Group conducted the Orientation cum Consultation on the Creation of DENR-EMB-MGB Caraga Integrated IEC Action Plan for CY 2024 on January 26, 2024 at the DENR Regional Learning Center in Barangay Ambago, Butuan City. MGB ROXIII celebrates 125th Founding Anniversary of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau

In celebration of the 125th Founding Anniversary of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. XIII, in cooperation with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Employees Association Region XIII Chapter, conducted a series of talks on November 30, 2023 at the MGB Regional Office No. XIII Training Center in Surigao City.
